Lenovo’s IdeaPad 100 series carries ‘Affordable Personal Laptops’ as claimed on their website. All the laptops in this series ship with Windows 10 out of the box. The Lenovo IdeaPad 100-15IBY (15”) is a big solid looking laptop. It looks like every other laptop out there and does nothing special to stand out from the crowd. It is not a bad thing though because the laptop is cheaper than most of the laptops out. Lenovo has achieved a good balance between price and performance.
On the inside the laptop is available in a host of processor and RAM configurations. But it is available in only one color, black. Here we will be looking at the Lenovo IdeaPad 100-15IBY model.

INSIDE THE BOX:
· Lenovo IdeaPad 100-15IBY
· AC Adapter
· User Guide and Manuals
Lenovo IdeaPad 100-15IBY is a budget laptop. Lenovo calls it ‘Affordable Personal Laptop’ which suits this machine rather well. It is available around Rs. 26,500/- in online stores. The design is a typical notebook. The entire laptop is painted a matte black colour which lends it a sleek and sophisticated look on the outside.
A Chiclet style keyboard dominates the inside. A separate number pad is also included for that added convenience. The keys are well space out and have a decent amount of travel which ensures speedy, accurate and fatigue-free typing. The trackpad though is a bit on the smaller side. It could have done well to have a bigger trackpad for a better user experience.
The IdeaPad 100-15IBY comes with a 15.6 inch (39.62 cm) backlit LED display with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels which works out to a 16:9 ratio. This is the ideal ratio for watching movies or working on those wide Excel sheets.
The screen resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels is now passé and on a big 15.6 inch display, it borders on slight pixilation, especially around the fonts. But considering the price point, it is acceptable.
The Lenovo IdeaPad 100-15IBY is powered by an Intel Pentium N3540 chip running at 2.66 GHz along with integrated graphics. This is paired with 4 GB of DDR3 SD RAM. Together they ensure that the notebook keeps ticking along smoothly while doing everyday tasks like typing documents, surfing the internet and watching movies.
You can play casual games. But you won’t be able to play high-end, graphically demanding games on this one. The 4GB RAM helps quite a bit during multi-tasking where the user has to cycle between two or more applications for increased productivity.
The notebook also features one USB 3.0 port which is ten times faster than USB 2.0. That’s why it’s a pity, and surprising, that there are only two USB ports available on the device with one of them being USB 2.0.

The Lenovo IdeaPad 100-15IBY is an everyday notebook aimed mostly at students and for people doing basic productivity tasks. While it may not be able to satisfy power users, the intended users will certainly make the most out of it. The widescreen display and the inclusion of the USB 3.0 port certainly work in its favour while some things like the low resolution let it down a bit. All in all, it is a practical, no-frills productivity device.
