This is the time to talk about the performance of the latest iPhone 7 from the Apple company. This is the phone of the old ideas repackaged. It is the water resistant and little convenience, even the assassination of the noble headphone jack none of it is truly new.
But Apple is always is less about novelty than about repackaging what already exists in a new and interesting way. The iPhone 7 lives up to that legacy. You just need to be able to see past the boring bits to realize it.
In the hand, the phone feels nearly identical to the two generations of iPhones that came before it. Unless you get the incredibly scratch prone jet black version instead of the matte black finish. Yes the minimized antenna inlays are a welcome and the new casting around the camera lens is impressive but these are details that only the discerning eye can appreciate.
And up front, you got a display whose resolution hasn’t changed since 2014. Stuff like this is part of the reason phone nerds get up in arms about people spending so much money on phones. On the surface, Apple seems to be selling yesterday's leftovers to a gullible populace. But that not true. The truth is you don’t need crazy high resolution on a display this small and what it lacks in pixel density, it makes up for color balance. While the 7 is just as thin as and slightly lighter than the last year's phone. It is a water and dust resistant.
This is something I have confirmed with the help of the several fountains and several stupid shower selfies. And the single speaker is set into two. Now placed above and below the display for more immersive sound than any phone till date. The design of the Apple 7is 4” display phone with a decent face. The device comes with a sleek look with a very light weight. The charging slot is at the bottom. The rear panel has a smooth finish. The 3.5 mm headphone jack is missing. Active noise cancellation with the dedicated mic is provided.

It is a multi-capacitive touch screen with LED backlit IPS display. It has a pixel density of 326ppi. It is provided with Ion strengthened glass. Comes with wide color gamut display and also supplied with oleophobic coating and 3D touch display.

It has an internal memory of 32/128/256GB running on 2GB RAM. The primary camera is 12 MP, f/1.8, 28mm, phase detection autofocus, OIS, quad-LED (dual tone) flash, the Secondary cam of 7MP, f/2.2, 32mm, 1080p@30fps, 720p@240fps, face detection, HDR, panorama.

Speaking of the sound, let’s talk about the headphone jack for a second. Yes, it's gone. And no I really don’t miss it. Bluetooth headphones have become a good part of my life. Since using the Moto Z earlier this year which also didn’t offer a headphone jack. If you are an audiophile and use the kind of fidelity only an analog wired connection can deliver. If you’re not interested in using a Bluetooth device or your car doesn’t have then this is not a suitable car for you. However, you can use other headphones with the provided connector.
The point is you got options. The space apple saved by axing the headphone jack is filled back up with an improved Haptic engine. The linear motor gives that gives the phone its good vibrations. Haptic response is everywhere on the iPhone 7. From the little bump when the notifications shade bounces off the bottom of the screen to the subtle clicks that tick off the bearing marks in the compass and slots on click wheels to the artificial buzz of 3D touch. The phone feels more alive in the hand than ever before. And the haptic response is more important than ever to sell the illusion of the new home button which is actually a capacitive touch pad. Whose click is produced entirely by the haptic engine.
It feels so futuristic that the spring loaded buttons on the older phones already feel clunky and dated to me. If your hands are wet or gloved it won’t work but Apple borrowed a page from Motorola and the Nokia here with raise to wake. The iPhone 7 will turn on its screen when you pull it from the pocket or pluck it from a tabletop and it works pretty well in practice. From there it is just a firm press on the fingerprint scanner to jump into ios 10. Now personally I hate being locked into the Apple idea of a home screen.
This static grid of icons that I have the barest control over. And some of the precedence the ios established with the first iPhone are now woefully out of date, like placing the back button at the end of the screen. I like the new coat of the paint on new ios 10. The control center keeps lots of handy toggles within the thumbs reach. Widgets and the frequently used apps have been broken out into a separate panel to the left.
Swiping down still lets you search for pretty much anything right from the home screen and when you just don’t want to be bothered, the palm-inspired mute switch is the simplest way to silence a phone. In other words, ios on the iPhone 7 is really a nice mix of old and new. Phone calls on the iPhone 7 are outstanding. I tested it on the T-mobile and whenever I was talking to another t mobile customer with HD voice or doing a call over Wi-Fi, the sound quality was tremendous. Apple uses the active noise cancellation in the earpiece which makes me feel well. Finally, there is the camera which has seen almost every major component upgraded this year. By far the most notable of these is the optical stabilization which smoothes the video in walking shots and allows for clearer long exposure in low light. This is good.
The day to day response to the Apple is quick. The phone delivered well in all conditions with this amazing camera. The iPhone 7 is the fastest and most forgiving cameras out there. The nerdy side of me wants to lash out at the iPhone 7 to whine about the familiar design to join the chorus of voices who say this phone is too expensive. Make no mistake the iPhone 7 is n excellent smartphone, one of the best you can buy in the year 2016. Even if it's not the head-turner it once was.
